Northshore United Football Club Celebrates "Kelly Night"

May 11, 2019

A last minute change of venue, pouring rain, multiple lightning delays and the stadium lights going out during the game were not enough to keep the Northshore United Football Club from dominating the Baton Rouge Soccer Club with a 4-1 victory for their season opener in the Gulf Coast Premier Soccer League. Major kudos to Robbie McCray of Third Coast Soccer who pulled together Kelly Night despite all the monkey wrenches thrown into the works. https://www.northshoreutd.com/strong-start-leads-to-dominate-win-over-baton-rouge-united/

The game was moved from Pelican Park in Mandeville to Northlake Christian's artificial turf field because of the drenching rains experienced during the days preceding Kelly Night. Dodging raindrops, Larry and Susan O'Mahoney presented the 2019 Kelly C. O'Mahoney Soccer Scholarship to Peyton Scheuermann of St. Scholastica Academy. The $1,000 scholarship is presented to a young woman from St. Tammany Parish who is going on to play intercollegiate soccer and best exemplifies Kelly O'Mahoney's determination, hustle and ability to overcome adversity. Peyton will be playing soccer at Mississippi College in Clinton, MS.

Despite the change in venue, rain and lightning, the spectators generously donated almost $600 to advanced brain cancer research. Many thanks to those good souls who braved the elements to help us eradicate this monstrous disease.
